Live, train, work and enjoy Dallas-Fort Worth with Envoy

So you’ve earned your flight hours and are eligible to become a commercial airline pilot. Or, you’re currently flying for another carrier and looking to join Envoy? Just one reason you should consider Envoy is down to our Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) headquarters, hub, close location to American Airlines’ Robert L. Crandall “Skyview” world headquarters campus, and our industry-leading training facilities.

Envoy Headquarters (EHQ), located just north of DFW Airport, is where it all begins. Starting on day one, our newest pilots learn everything from Envoy’s policies and procedures, how to safely operate our Embraer 170 and 175 fleet and more about our company culture at our EHQ campus.

Some of the most hands-on pieces of training equipment found right here at EHQ are our Virtual Procedures Trainers. This allows our trainees to get a simulated feel for the controls and procedural flows of the flight deck of an Envoy-operated Embraer 175 (E175) all without leaving the office.

“Our pilots receive all the training they need right here in the DFW area,” said Envoy Flight Training Director Captain Allen Hill. “Between the classrooms at our headquarters campus and our state-of-the-art flight simulators housed at a facility just 15 minutes down the road, we’re confident that our pilots have easy access to the materials they need to be the best they can be.”

Stay in style while training

Every day, Envoy’s crew scheduling team organizes hundreds of hotel rooms across the country for our crewmembers to stay during their overnights. Envoy has leveraged our strong partnerships with hotel chains to provide pilots in training with some of the best facilities and a safe and pleasant stay while in the DFW area.

“We know that the first month of training is busy for our new pilots, so we make sure that housing is one less thing they need to worry about,” said Capt. Hill. “In addition to our hotel partnerships, we also partnered with a local property – formerly a luxury apartment building – to provide fully furnished suites for our pilots so that they are better equipped to make the best of their time outside of training.”

This includes apartment-style rooms with full washers and dryers installed, and other amenities to make the most of their time training with us in the DFW area.

Over to the SIMs

After ground school is done, it’s over to the simulators. In 2022, Envoy announced the addition of two new full motion flight-simulators (SIMs) that are housed and maintained by Avenger Flight Group (AFG) just 15 minutes from EHQ. The facility now has four SIMs, with space for more in the future. Rather than require pilots to train at simulator facilities across the United States, Envoy has consolidated our flight simulators at AFG to provide convenience for pilots undergoing new hire and recurrent training.

“Between standardizing our fleet to the Embraer E-Jet platform (E175/170), and announcing the addition of 35 aircraft to our fleet, we’ve been able to hire the best pilots in the regional industry,” said Envoy Vice President of Flight Operations, Captain Ric Wilson. “Bringing in all of these pilots requires us to ensure they receive proper training, so having our pilot training in a central location has done wonders for our operation as a whole.”

Centralizing training in the DFW area also reduces the need for pilots in training to travel to other simulator facilities across the United States – speeding your time to qualify and head towards the flight line.

Don’t forget ORD, MIA and PHX

After training, pilots go to the line for Initial Operating Experience (IOE) at one of our hub locations. Envoy has four crew bases – DFW, MIA, ORD and PHX. While DFW is our largest hub, home to our EHQ and AFG facilities and more, IOE is dependent on your base assignment during class date.

On to American

When the time comes to flow to American Airlines, you’re only a short distance away from American’s Headquarters. American’s Robert L. Crandall campus is located to the south of DFW Airport, and approximately 15 minutes away from EHQ. As the largest regional carrier for American Airlines, Envoy is also the largest provider of new pilots for American, with over 3,000 former Envoy pilots now flying for American. This means pilots who begin their career with us are uniquely positioned to flow to American.
