Earlier this month, more than 150 Girl Scouts from across Long Island gathered at New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) for an unforgettable day exploring the many opportunities in aviation. Hosted by Envoy, along with our colleagues at American Airlines, the event offered young girls a firsthand look at the diverse and dynamic careers available to women in the industry.
Their day began with an authentic aviation experience: boarding an aircraft, taxiing down the runway, and diving into the mechanics of how planes operate. These hands-on activities sparked curiosity and gave the girls a glimpse into the world of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) as applied in aviation.
The event didn’t stop there. At the hangar, the Girl Scouts engaged with representatives from Envoy and American, the New York Port Authority, and TSA teams. These interactions offered a comprehensive look at the teamwork and coordination that keeps air travel safe and efficient.
Perhaps the most inspiring moments came when the girls connected with their role models—female leaders from across the aviation spectrum. These women shared their journeys, insights, and encouragement, showing the girls that the sky truly is the limit.
No event is complete without a little fun, and the team delivered! The Girl Scouts walked away with plenty of aviation-themed swag to celebrate their day and remind them of their potential future in the skies.
This event underscores Envoy and American’s commitment to empowering and inspiring the next generation of women in aviation. By providing hands-on experiences and fostering community connections, we aim to ignite a passion for aviation in young minds and ensure a brighter future for the industry.
Thank you to all the LGA team members who contributed to making this event a soaring success. Your dedication to mentorship and community outreach exemplifies the best of Envoy and American Airlines. Together, we are shaping the future—one Girl Scout at a time.
