Last month, the Envoy team at the Memphis International Airport (MEM) hosted its annual Safety Fair with the goal of reviewing safety protocols while also bringing the team together, having fun and making a difference in the community. In addition, the Envoy team and the MEM airport authorities held a special session that guided employees through the best practices for containing hazardous spills. The hands-on demonstrations emphasized the importance of immediate response and effective containment provided folks with valuable knowledge to keep the workplace safe and environmentally responsible.
Team building through art
To add a fun and creative element the team turned to art for a team-building activity. A large empty canvas was set up as a collaborative project for both Envoy and airport authority employees to paint, giving them the opportunity to network with others.
“As they painted, they shared stories, laughed, and discovered new friendships,” said Marlon Wright, MEM General Manager. “Many found common ground, while others enjoyed the camaraderie of working side by side. The painting activity helped break down barriers and fostered a sense of unity that we will carry on long after the event.”
Giving back in a messy way
The highlight of the day was the pie-in-the-face event where both Envoy and American General Managers endured a face full of whipped cream for a good cause. For just five dollars, participants were given the chance to throw a pie at their managers – the response was overwhelming. Thanks to the generosity of the MEM team, they raised more than 500 dollars, which will go toward purchasing toys and winter coats for children in need.
In the end, the MEM Safety Fair wasn’t just an opportunity to learn more about Safety, it was a day of team bonding, fun and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Thank you, Team MEM, for sharing your passion for safety and community.
