Melissa Loffler has been an Envoy Flight Attendant for six years and enjoys providing exceptional service to every customer she can. Her infectious positive attitude and commitment to her craft earned her the 2023 President’s Award.
“Melissa was one of my flight attendants on a trip that had a long overnight, so I got to really experience how much her positivity and personality shines,” one nominator wrote. “She was incredibly warm and welcoming to every customer that came on board. It was like she had gotten to know each person on the plane, and as they would leave, she would remember them and wish them well on something they were going to. I have never seen customer service or care to that level and thus I believe she whole-heartedly deserves the President’s Award.”
What is your Envoy story?
“I started as a Flight Attendant for American Airlines in 2001 and took a break in 2011, where I spent a few years in the Peace Corps. After that, I tried some other jobs, but nothing really clicked.
I missed flying too much, so I joined Envoy in 2018 and I love it. I get so much joy out of helping people every day. I know I’m good at this job and I have so much fun doing it.”
What do you believe sets your work apart from others?
“I believe that my unique ability to connect with people sets me apart. My parents always instilled in me the importance of helping others, and it’s something that comes naturally.
It’s not forced or fake. Even on tough days, I find joy in making others feel good. It’s a big part of who I am.”
Are there any significant milestones or memorable moments in your career that stand out to you?
“Winning the Envoy President’s Award and Outstanding Flight Attendant Award were huge highlights of my career. It felt incredible to be recognized for doing what I love.
Helping people every day is the core of this job and those small moments, like holding a baby for a tired parent or being there for someone traveling to a funeral, are just as special to me as any award. When passengers tell me I’m the best flight attendant they’ve ever had, it’s incredibly rewarding.”
How do you stay motivated and maintain high standards in your work?
“It’s just part of who I am. I don’t have to do anything super crazy to stay motivated.
I thrive on the energy of the people around me, especially my customers – their appreciation fuels my drive. I try to put myself in their shoes and understand what they’re going through. That connection keeps me going.”
