60-Second Interview: Alejandra Hernandez

In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month and the amazing folk at Envoy who contribute to our success, let’s meet with Alejandra Hernandez who is an Envoy Manager of Hub Training at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  Read below to learn more about how she celebrates her Mexican-American culture and how she finds inspiration from her father.

What is your Envoy story?

“November will mark 11 years with Envoy for me. In my current role, I am responsible for ensuring that our trainers have the tools and resources to effectively train new employees.”

What is the significance of National Hispanic Heritage Month to you?

“This month serves as an important reminder of the diversity that enriches our nation and encourages dialogue about the challenges and triumphs faced by Hispanic communities throughout history.”

What is your cultural background and how do you like to celebrate it?

“I am a first-generation Mexican American, with roots in Guadalajara, Mexico. The region is renowned for its tequila and one of our significant celebrations is El Día de Los Muertos.

During this time, we honor our deceased loved ones by creating altars adorned with their photographs and offering their favorite foods and drinks.”

What Hispanic/Latino historical figure or person in your life gives you inspiration?

“My father has been a remarkable source of inspiration throughout my life. Immigrating to this country with no knowledge of the language or culture, he faced numerous challenges head-on.

His unwavering determination and resilience allowed him to achieve the American dream, providing my siblings and me with a stable home and access to quality education. His journey exemplifies the power of hard work and the importance of perseverance, and I am truly grateful for the foundation he has laid for us.”

What’s one surprising fact others might not know about you?

“While my birthplace is the United States, I hold dual citizenship with Mexico. This unique status allows me to appreciate and benefit from the rich cultures and opportunities that both nations offer.”
