Yailin Perez Mena started her career at Envoy in 2018 as a Customer Service Agent. She currently serves as a Lead Customer Service Agent at our Miami (MIA) hub where she is known for her leadership and kindness. Yailin’s work ethic, organization, and productivity has earned her the 2024 President’s Award.

What inspired you to pursue a career in aviation?

As a very young girl, I was inspired by how elegant Flight Attendants and Customer Service Agents looked in uniform, as well as a fascination of flying and an interest in learning about different cultures. In 2018 I started as a Customer Service Gate Agent with Envoy Air and, while in that position, I volunteered and was selected to become a mentor for new Envoy agents. That experienced helped me to grow and advance as a Lead Agent.

What do you believe sets your approach to work apart from others?

I consider myself a very dynamic person who looks for quick solutions, and I’m responsible and empathetic.

Are there any memorable moments or significant milestones in your career that stand out to you?

The first time I was recognized by Envoy for my hard work, was when I was simultaneously named the Employee and Mentor of the Month. I was very excited because I put my heart into everything I do.

How do you stay motivated and maintain high standards in your work?

I always look for the positive in everything I do. I choose to have a good attitude and I enjoy listening to motivational speakers about leadership, self-esteem, and self-control.

What is your favorite part about working at Envoy? What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career so far?

I enjoy the challenge of irregular operations – When there are complicated flights, such as restricted or overbooked flights, I find joy in helping agents manage everything successfully. The most rewarding thing thus far is receiving praise from passengers who are grateful for the service provided.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

I have learned you should never doubt yourself or be afraid of challenges because we all have the same opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve whatever we set our minds to do in life. With perseverance, hard work and dedication to what you do, results are achieved. I LOVE my job and I’m very grateful for those that nominated me for this award.

Are there any hobbies or interests outside of work that you’re passionate about?

Outside of work, I love karaoke, traveling, eating Spanish and Italian food, and above all dancing!
