Last week, students from schools across Irving, TX gathered at Envoy Headquarters (EHQ) to tour our campus, meet some of our leadership team and learn more about our regional airline operation as part of the Future Leaders of Irving (FLI) program.
FLI selects up to 60 high school seniors annually to participate in this program where they have the opportunity to learn more about the organizations and corporations that are based in Irving.
From learning how Dispatch and Crew Scheduling work together in the System Operations Control (SOC) center to seeing a full demonstration of our Flight Attendant cabin trainer, FLI students were able to stop by some of the busiest areas at EHQ before joining a Q&A session led by some members of Envoy’s senior leadership team.
“Not every job is for every person, and many people started somewhere completely different from where they are now,” said Senior Vice President of Corporate Services John Nicks. “A key thing to remember is to work hard where you are and grow, so you can expand your opportunities within the Company as a whole.”
Graduation season is quickly approaching, which means college preparation and career planning are top-of-mind for many of these seniors. It can feel overwhelming for some students in their shoes but hearing advice from leaders who have built a solid career over the last few decades can be a vote of confidence in their minds.
“Pick something and move toward it,” said Vice President of Flight Operations Captain Ric Wilson. “Over time, it will evolve and change as you evolve and change, but pursuing an education and bettering yourself as you go is the best way to build a strong and exciting career.”
